There's a book called The Activator Method that details almost everything about using it properly along with papers and studies on its application. I'm of the opinion it works better/is more ideal for muscles than for adjustments, but there are whole books on utilizing it for adjustment purposes. The purpose of The Activator and The Activator Method are for consistency of applied pressure (force) and amplitude (speed) of that force being applied to a given area.
